Education/Workforce Training
When it comes to education and training, Lake County meets all of the needs of business and industry. Lake County’s nine school districts have improved their rating through programs added to their curriculums. Two districts, Perry and Kirtland, achieved the “excellent” rating. High school students have a choice of technical training at Auburn Career Center.
At least half of all Lake County high school graduates go on to some type of continuing education. They don’t have far to go to find a quality education either. Lake Erie College and Lakeland Community College are centrally located in the county. And, within an hour’s drive are 23 accredited colleges and universities and many of specialized training facilities.

Students in the horticulture program learn basic plant science, greenhouse management and landscape construction/design techniques. The annual holiday and spring plant sales help students learn customer-service skills. |
Every training program at Auburn has an advisory committee that meets periodically to stay informed of new trends and equipment in each career field. Its Technology Learning Center was named one of the Microsoft Information Technology Academies.
Auburn is a full-service adult education center and provides a wide variety of services to local industry and business. Services include diversified industrial training programs, customized computer training and customized human resource development.
Lake Erie College, Painesville
Painesville is the home of Lake Erie College, a nearly 150-year-old independent coeducational institution that offers 21 undergraduate degrees as well as master’s degrees in business and education.

The college offers business and industry customized training, a highly regarded evening MBA program, an experienced and dedicated staff available for consulting and speaking engagements and an extensive internship program with local business and industry.
Lakeland Community College, Kirtland
Lakeland Community College is a two-year college with a wide selection of associate degrees. Lakeland offers education in the arts, business, engineering technologies, science and health, social science and public service technologies. Students continuing on to four-year institutions will find a simplified transfer process with credits fully transferable to many Ohio colleges and universities.
Through its Center for Business and Industry, Lakeland offers workforce development services, customized education and training, technical services and consulting. Businesses may inquire into available training grants. Lakeland also offers noncredit community learning.
